D in spiral steel pipes represents the actual diameter of the steel pipe, while DN represents the nominal diameter of the steel pipe (the nominal outer diameter does not represent the actual diameter). The nominal diameter, also known as the nominal diameter, is the specification name of the pipe (or fitting). Due to the usage habits of various countries, the actual outer diameter represented by a certain nominal diameter (such as DN 100 spiral steel pipe) is not consistent.

螺旋钢管中的D表示钢管的实际直径，而DN则是表示钢管的公称直径（公称外径不代表实际直径），公称直径又叫公称通径，是管子（或者管件）的规格名称。

由于各个国家使用上的习惯，某种公称通径（如DN 100螺旋钢管）所表示的实际外径并不是一致的。归纳起来，DN（公称直径）主要有两种，一种称为公制系列（B系列），一种称为英制系列（A系列）。因此，如果只知道公称通径，而不知道属于A系列还是B系列，通常我们不能确定它的实际外径。

例如DN100 螺旋钢管，如为A系列，则其代表管道外径为114.3mm的螺旋钢管，如果采用B系列，则代表外径为108mm的螺旋钢管；如果是DN100A就代表外径为114.3mm，DN100B就代表外径为108mm。至于壁厚通常按照给出的管标号（如SCHSTD、XS），查询相关标准中的有关表格，即可查到其代表的实际壁厚。
